ABOUT ANNE JAMISON, owner

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! I am an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition out of New York City, a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer & NASM Certified Nutrition Coach & have completed the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Advanced Blood Chemistry course. I also hold a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in Crime, Law & Justice. I reside in Lancaster County, PA with my wonderfully supportive fiancé (who is a Chef) & our two smart, funny & beautiful daughters & energetic pup Blitzen.

My love for health & nutrition started in 2006 as a student at Penn State University & have since made studying nutrition, dietary theories & various health approaches my passion. I want to help people discover the root causes of their ailments, learn how to shop for & prepare healthy food, & find their way to a path of better health through diet, education & exercise.

My nutritional journey truly began after taking prescription medicine for years from my teens into mid-twenties for hypothyroidism. I decided to no longer renew my prescription & take the functional route to try a non-medicated approach to healing my thyroid. Upon changing my diet & exercise routine, my thyroid levels are now completely normal according to conventional medicine. I am now working to maintain some levels in and get some levels into a functional range. I was told I’d be on medicine for the rest of my life but have been medication free for almost 15 years! I am a firm believer that overall health starts from the inside out with food & is enhanced with exercise & would love to share my knowledge with you.

My fitness passion started while in high school but really grew once I started working with a personal trainer in Virginia Beach, VA. It was filled with barbell workouts, cardio, plyometrics & high intensity work & I was loving it! Once back in PA I joined a CrossFit gym & learned a lot about proper form & technique, basic movement patterns, power & Olympic lifting. I also really enjoy practicing yoga, breathing techniques, stretching & balance training so don’t worry… working with me isn’t all about high intensity work! Not all forms of fitness & exercise are appropriate for everyone which is why Integrative Fitness is very important – finding what works for you.

My current healing journey is with my skin. I have had vitiligo for over 30 years & I’ve felt helpless. Doctors say there is no cause or cure & like to prescribe steroids, creams, pills, UV light therapy, heavy makeup & more for this autoimmune issue, but, like with my hypothyroidism, I wanted to find out the why & not just a coverup. I found out that I was on & off antibiotics almost every month for 18 months before the age of three due to ear infections. Antibiotics, when prescribed too often & not complimented with dietary changes including probiotics, are not good for you to put it simply. I know now that the constant antibiotics contributed to my vitiligo autoimmune disease as a child & then hypothyroidism developed later, as the two typically go hand in hand.

Long story short, after doing research on my own on vitiligo, I discovered that with dietary changes & adding supplements, pigment has started to return in some places without a drastic coverup or protocol that was otherwise suggested to me in the past. I can’t wait to see what long term changes will be!

In addition to learning about how different foods & exercise impact overall health, I love to cook for my family & friends, share recipes & helpful kitchen tips. Improving your relationship with food is an important part on path to better health. I understand that sometimes only eating healthy isn’t enough if there is an imbalance somewhere else in your life & exercise alone will not correct a bad diet.

If you are motivated to improve your health by making incremental changes over time you’ve come to the right place. By taking control of your health, you’ll change your narrative, grow & become your best you.
